Beyonce has declared war on childhood obesity, in a new video that is aimed at encouraging children to lose weight.

The video is for Move Your Body – an updated version of Beyonce’s 2007 single Get Me Bodied. The single has been reworked as part of the Let’s Move Campaign, which was first initiated by the First Lady, Michelle Obama. Let’s Move intends to reduce the level of childhood obesity in America. At present, around one in four children in America are thought to be obese.

Beyonce can be seen dancing in a school canteen, as school children around her join in and sing along.

According to Metro, the Bootylicious star said: "I am excited to be part of this effort that addresses a public health crisis."

“First Lady Michelle Obama deserves credit for tackling this issue directly, and I applaud the NAB Education Foundation for trying to make a positive difference in the lives of our schoolchildren.”

The summer is typically a popular time to lose weight, for all age groups. Although there are a variety of ways in which you can lose weight – from diet pills to even bariatric surgery in extreme cases – by far the healthiest method of weight loss is simply to eat healthily, and exercise regularly.
